The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors met for its monthly meeting on Tuesday evening. Sadly, Supervisor Don Reese was not there, as he had passed away unexpectedly at home Monday. A plant was placed at his desk in the board chambers. Reese also was chairperson of the Town of Farmington Board of Supervisors.
JEFFERSON — Jefferson County Board Chairperson Jim Schroeder announced Tuesday that Supervisor Don Reese had passed away on Monday at age 63.
“It was a shock to us, and Don will be really missed,” Schroeder said.
“He served the public for a long time in a lot of different ways — on the county board, he was chair of several different committees here; he was town board chair; he was fire district chair — so, it is a huge loss,” Schroeder added.
“He served always with dedication and diligence.”
Reese, representing county District 11, had served on the board of supervisors since 2002.
District 11 includes Ward 2 of the Town of Aztalan, Ward 2 of the Town of Concord, and Wards 1 and 2 in the Town of Farmington.
Additionally, he served on the Town of Farmington Board of Supervisors for many years, and currently was serving as its chairperson.
A 1973 graduate of Johnson Creek High School, he owned and operated his own freelance carpentry business, was a home inspector for Forward Mutual Insurance Company in Ixonia, and bartended at Donny’s Girl Supper Club for many years.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, at noon, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Helenville. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. An additional visitation will be held at Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown on Thursday, Dec. 13, from 4 until 8 p.m.
